Earlier this year, I made a Space Quest IV Reorchestrated vinyl and an accompanying 7" ep. Since then, I've done records for SQ3 and SQ5, and I'm currently working on SQ6. But since the release of the original SQ4 vinyl, I have gotten a lot of requests to repress it because a lot of people missed it the first time.
WHY NOT JUST A SIMPLE REPRESS?
There were some things on the original vinyl that bugged me. I couldn't fit all the music from the game on a single vinyl. And one of the tracks on Side B was pressed with the wrong mix so there was a fairly hideous bum note there.
WHY JUST A BLACK VINYL? WHY NO COLOR/SPLAT/BLOB?
To keep the cost down.
WHAT DOES THIS ONE HAVE THAT THE PREVIOUS VERSION DIDN'T?
This edition contains all the tracks from the original LP* plus the Galaxy Galleria EP. It also contains 5 extra tracks that were reorchestrated especially for this version.
(* Except for one. I replaced the "Streets of Xenon" music with the iconic doom march that most people remember, instead of the 'spookier' track that was on the first LP.)
OTHER INFO YOU MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN
This is a cover/reorchestration album -- it is *not* the original soundtrack from the game. It uses the original MIDI data from the game, but re-arranged and re-produced with modern instruments.
It was made with the support and permission of the original composers Rob Atesalp and Ken Allen.
It is a 100% NON-PROFIT fan project. You are crowdfunding the pressing and shipping of the album - and nothing else. If there are any residual profits, they will be donated to the American Cancer Society.
WHY BLUE FROGS?
Blue frogs on my shoulders makes me happy.
