YellowBird was recording during a week of isolation on a goat farm in Woodbury, TN. Bird set up a home studio there and completed 80% of the record that week. He talks about how the isolation influenced the themes of the album: old memories
resurfacing, irrational fears playing out, loneliness giving way to playful aloneness. Of course we're all now familiar with the effects of isolation. It can play many tricks on the brain.

YellowBird is a journey through this mind field, passing through heartbreak, fear of death, celebration of life, and a spiritual desire for transcendence. It was largely self produced by Bird, though he was able to get audio stems sent via text message from his co-producers since there was no wifi on the farm. Since recording this album, Bird now makes regular trips to the farm to work. The natural beauty, lack of distractions, and challenge of isolation has proved to be an unparalleled tool in writing.
