First off, aside from the amazing music, how BEAUTIFUL is this variant?!
This record is a special one on the label, because it also has connections to the brick and mortar store. If you've been to the shop or are a local, you know that the store is not complete without talking about Matt Mena aka Goose. His passion for music and welcoming presence (and excellent bin of his own picks) is a staple for the community that has been built through the existence of the TMR store in Portland. I met Matt and Laura not long before the store opened, and our friendship has blossomed beautifully since then.
I remember the first time Matt showed me this record. Listening to it, I was truly blown away. From the lyrics to the arrangement to the production, everything was top notch. It was like a time capsule of the Indie music that I loved from 2004 to 2011, a sound that no longer dominates the air waves but certainly dominates my heart. If you're a fan of fragile songwriting with high production, this album needs to be in your collection. For fans of Freelance Whales, Elliot Smith, of Montreal, Modest Mouse, Animal Collective, or just music that makes you FEEL something, this album will take you on a journey across two gorgeous slabs of wax, and one that you will likely return to time and time again.
Unlike the last few records on the label, this one needs 200 copies to fund (2019 vibes?!) due to the cost of a double disk project (the first via QRATES since TMR-4) -- but I believe that this record is anything but isolating and specific - it's welcoming and infectuous and I think that any music fan could and should own it.
This is a one time pressing, so grab your copy before it's too late! Trust me, you're not gonna want to miss out.
