Adam and Cuth are a rapper-producer duo in the vein of classic hip-hop set ups such as Pete Rock and Cl Smooth, Blu and Exile or Madvillain.
Adam aka Adam Kammerling aka Adam the Rapper provides the words. He’s a grand slam poetry champion, a stalwart on UK battle rap scene and a prolific artist in his own right.
Cuth aka Cuth provides the beats. Soulful, gritty beats that hit with equal parts warmth and filth. He has previously released a string of collaboration albums and beat tapes.
Actual Cake is their second full length project following up their critically acclaimed 2015 album Formwork and their debut 2012 project The Letters EP. The formula hasn’t changed much, there are raps and there are beats, but the sonic palette has expanded. Drawing diverse soundscapes from psychedelic rock to lounge jazz to hungarian folk.
The album is at times light-hearted and humourous and at others bleak and dark, with subject matter ranging from the simple joy of a shot of espresso or a slice of cake to struggles with mental health and despair at the current political landscape. Actual Cake is a soulful and often psychedelic jaunt that serves a fresh slice of contemporary life in austerity Britain.
This will be the sole pressing for the record with numbers limited to 200. The record will sport full colour matt finish artwork and is pressed on black vinyl with full colour labels.
