Two super nerds join forces to bring you a split vinyl of intergalactic proportions! James Mulvale and The Space Quest Historian presents: The Space Quest III soundtrack like you've never heard it before -- twice!
Space Quest III was originally released by Sierra On-Line in 1989 and boasted a synth-rock'n'roll original score composed by Supertramp drummer Bob Siebenberg.
SIDE PHLEEBHUT*
Fresh off the heels of a successfully crowdfunded 12" soundtrack album and 7" ep of the Space Quest IV soundtrack, The Space Quest Historian has once again used the original MIDI files from the game and reorchestrated them using modern instruments.
SIDE ORTEGA*
Meanwhile, James Mulvale -- best known in adventure game circles as the composer for Infamous Quest's "Quest for Infamy" and "Space Quest II VGA" -- has entirely re-recorded his versions of the SQ3 tunes. These were originally intended for a SQ3 remake by Infamous Quests that was scrapped. Also includes James' end credits tune for SQ2VGA, "Space Janitor."
(* we decided not to call them "Side A" or "Side B" -- I mean, how boring would THAT have been?)
Both sides have been lovingly mastered especially for vinyl. The examples below are CD/digital masters.
The vinyl artwork features upscaled graphics from the game captured using FreeSCI.
TWO renditions of an iconic 80s adventure game soundtrack for the price of one! How can you beat that? Maybe with an Orat-on-a-Stick!
THIS IS A NON-PROFIT FAN PROJECT. Any residual profits will be donated to the World Health Organization's Covid-19 Response Fund: https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019/donate
