“F-R-E-S-H fresh fresh ayo that’s fresh”. Who doesn’t recall the legendary anthem from Hip Hop pioneers Fresh 3 Emcees released in January 1983. Well, J Cool of Fresh 3 Emcees is Supreme Just of Fame Labs. After achieving success and legendary status with Fresh 3, Supreme Just went on to form the Universal Brothers Force crew in the late 80s with DJ Life Supreme. UB Force alumni include King Sun, and AIG.
After Supreme Just took some time away from recording, the brothers reconnected in the 90s and got back to recording. Unfortunately UB Force disbanded by the late 90s and former members started working on solo projects. Supreme was recording at Central Park Studios which was founded by childhood friend and fellow LaGuardia School of the Arts student No Joke. Supreme Just and No Joke attended LaGuardia with a host of Hip Hop pioneers and actors including The Kangol Crew (which included Slick Rick and Dana Dane), Doug E Fresh, Miss Jones, Tichina Arnold and Carl Payne.
While Supreme Just was recording with No Joke another UB Force member, Darkim Be Allah, was planting the seeds for a new crew that would eventually become Fame Labs. Supreme Just, of course, became a founding member of Fame Labs and appeared on Live At The Lab; Take I with 2 songs (2000 Cuts & Stronger Now produced by No Joke). Since then Supreme has appeared on most of the projects Fame Labs catalogue.
Fast forward to 2019 and a 3 decades long resume later and Supreme Just is holding to the original Hip Hop formula as he releases “Experience... Bass on True Events”. On this project Supreme Just and the Fame Labs family is keeping the family recipe right. This time appearing alongside Supreme Just is, Kbar Master and Darkim Be Allah. Enjoy.
