Get your vinyl limited edition "Live session in France" by Zak Perry and the beautiful things

Live Session in France is the opportunity for Texan troubadour rocker Zak Perry to confirm its roots in France. We could even say digging a new path because if it is an already eleventh album for this veteran of the American independent scene, it is well is the first recorded in the Hexagon and moreover with an american-french line-up!

In "Live Studio" conditions, the Texan pair Zak Perry (vocals, guitar) and Vern Vennard (melodic lead guitar to perfection), brilliantly assisted by the frenchy rhythm section Guillaume Maillard (bass) and Julien Mahieux (drums), recorded in front of a public composed of members of the French fanclub a tasty album of 10 tracks, alternating energetic rocks and ballads of obedience Americana.

On the rock side, the album begins with the single Witch (rough title with a great groove brought by the rhythm section) and continues in track 5 with Burden On You (a retro-rock both dynamic and angry) before concluding by Soul Gravy (a catchy title with its swaying rhythm) and the marvelous I'll Be Waiting (a track with great tension and alternating atmospheres). Incidentally, this last title was already on the indispensable Broken Glass Parade 2014 ZAK PERRY BAND in a slightly different orchestration.

Side Americana, our friendly troubadour mainly celebrates love and friendship via different country-folk ballads, marked by an incredible vocal and melodic mastery. On the one hand, love in the soft Black Sundress Kaleidoscope Shoes with particularly fluid guitars but also the love declined in an acoustic charm through Saint Catherine. As for Make A Little Memory, it's a real pearl for me: a pop-folk-rock nugget that seduces with its rhythm as well as its changes of tempos. Surely a potential radio hit! On the other hand, this album is an opportunity for Zak to translate his deep attachment to his northerly stronghold and its inhabitants ... were they quadrupeds! Thus Little Ponies and Preux-Au-Sart are two beautiful hymns to the tranquility of these places, so much so that if Maxime Le Forestier idolized a certain California Blue House, one is entitled to think that many Americans could have a symmetrical revelation!

With the exception already mentioned and Two Dollar Kite (title on the eponymous album of MA DRIVER vintage 2001, with a Led Zeppelin atmosphere circa the intro of No Quarter), Zak delivers a live-studio album nicely structured around 8 new compositions that once again demonstrate his vast musical spectrum as well as his talents as songwriter, singer (what an incredible warm voice) and musician (what a superb rhythmic sense on the guitar). Moreover, the album which enjoys an admirable production under the leadership of Stéphane Bihan (founder of the independent label Yokatta Records) also allows to appreciate the fantastic qualities of the soloist Vern "Barefoot" Vennard whose sparkling solos illuminate almost every title !

And to conclude, let us specify that "Yokatta" is the Japanese expression that expresses the state of happiness that passes us after having lived a happy event. Also, no doubt after listening to this Live Session In France by Zak Perry & The Beautiful Things, Japan or not .... You will want to shout YOKATTA !!!
