16-year-old Sachin KANDA is releasing his debut EP ‘The Lions Awake’ on the 21st October 2020. Including a variety of genres (from Hip-hop to Trap) KANDA captures the essence of being young and the passion he has to create a recognisable name for himself as a musician.
KANDA describes his debut EP as “The Lion’s Awake’ is such an exciting project to me as it’s my first-ever collection of songs. The reason for the title is due to the fact that King of The Jungle (KOTJ) was my first ever recorded and released song so it remains as a crucial part to my journey as a singer. A lot has happened this year, with me getting signed, acknowledgment from massive artists and producers and expanding my brand as a singer, so what better way to continue than my first ever EP? All of the songs there hold different vibes and feelings to each other, I wanted to portray my versatility and I will continue to do so, featuring on many different tracks. Of course, I will mainly specialise in my genre but I want to prove to the world and muse that I’m not just an ordinary singer, I want to prove that I’m special, and this is just the beginning of my journey”.
KANDAs passion extends further beyond writing about his ambitions within music to writing about social issues he feels connected to. ‘Never The Same’ was released after the murder of George Floyd and received extensive radio exposure, including BBC Radio 6 in which Tom Robinson described it as “The most emotionally powerful song I have heard yet, addressing the Black Lives Matter Movement’. In addition to this KANDA has just released another politically powerful song called ‘Cut The Chains’ concerning the forced labour camps in China, using his creative talent to speak up against Racism.
‘The Lions Awake’ includes five songs (Waves, Champion, Plan B, Energy and Champion Acoustic) as well as a remix of his first release ‘KOTJ’. The songs share similar characteristics such as the vibrant and bold melody lines within the instrumental. Alongside this, KANDA has a unique style of sung-rap throughout the EP.
On the 20th of October 2020 KANDA is living streaming a free virtual concert to celebrate his first EP launch with his audience. Tickets are available via this link: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/kanda-the-lions-awake-virtual-launch-tickets-124811138475
