In Between Floors is the first LP from Otis ‘Max’ Load and the Thirteen Persons, the alter-ego of London-based keyboard player and songwriter Steve O’Hear. Part concept album and part biography of a long-distance love-affair, its ten songs of heartfelt retrospection and funk-fueled optimism weave together a lifetime of musical influences in blues and soul, from The Meters to Traffic; from Dr John to Derek and the Dominoes; from Booker T to Mick Taylor-era Stones. Steve is helped out by collaborators old and new, a rock-solid group of veteran musicians and a rotating lineup of vocalists including British singer-songwriter MIRI, and roots music veteran Jimi Lyons.
