Too Many Records presents... A Cosmic Gift - Field Notes!

TMR-2, Vermilion Club - Home, has been arriving over the past couple weeks. Response has been overwhelmingly positive, yet again, which makes me think that maybe we're onto something special here.

I am extremely humbled and honored to have the blessing to put out the 5th LP by A Cosmic Gift, entitled Field Notes. This is not a compilation of scrapped or unreleased tracks, this is another set of brilliant music from Brandon Burger and Richard Houghten.

Their LP, A Journey to the Purple Planet from 2017, one of my top picks of that year I might add, featured a mixture of beautiful downtempo songs, funky galactic bangers, and had some vocalists peppered throughout. Eschewing vocals (for the most part, there are some returning surprises throughout) on this release, the focus is on Brandon's drum n bass inspired percussion and Richard's floaty, majestic guitar work to craft soundscapes that are both out of this world and perfect for this world.

Being a huge fan of their music, and knowing that they could have released this on their own, I can't stress how honored and excited I am for this to join the roster of stellar releases stacking up on the Too Many Records label.

As usual, this will be on a beautiful double splatter record with a black poly-lined inner sleeve. We wanted the record to be super affordable, too, so the pre-order price is, again, 19.99. You can get it with confidence knowing that this will be another knock out of the park scenario as were TMR-1 and TMR-2.

The thing that's special about this roll-out is that we wanted to crowd-source the album and label art from the TMR family, giving someone a chance to create iconic art for this timeless music. If you're an artist (or know an artist that loves records), we are going to be running a little campaign to decide on the art. Listen to the music, and create what you feel! The only requirement is that the most prominent colors are black, purple, and yellow (like the vinyl mockup).

The person who creates the art we select will get
A) A 7" clear lathe of Pasilla, a standout track from this album with Fisheye holograms
B) A copy of the out of print A Cosmic Gift record - A Journey To The Purple Planet
C) A one off lacquer dub cut of Field Notes
D) A signed copy of the TMR pressing of Field Notes

And EVERYONE who enters a visual concept or piece will also get a copy of the 7" Pasilla. To enter you don't need to be the best artist in the world, you just have to be creative! You can't just throw some PNGs on a blank MS Paint canvas and call it an entry, though. We need to see you tried.

Submit questions and/or art entries to: toomanyrecordsmusic@gmail.com

200 copies and this thing gets funded and we're making another record! Let's make it happen.

Let's make a third record!

Thank you all for your support,

Matt, Richard, and Brandon
