Eaters - The Astronomers Office

Eaters are four men who should be setting a better example to their kids - if Aldous Huxley and Stanley Kubrick made hip hop it would probably sound a bit like Eaters.

The Eaters 10th album is a landmark in grown up and socially aware hip hop from Scotland for these turbulent times. The album is a vast spectrum of sounds all underpinned by a heavily industrial electronic beat. Vocally Obselite and Laughing Gear are outsider agents looking into a world of battling rappers, corrupt corporations and global conspiracy. Quiet Man steps in to also add some verses to back up his production work with Tuck Pendleton. Cuts executed by Brian Jones and DJ B-BURG - two of the UK's best cut DJs.

The vinyl release also includes three bonus tracks from the All Eyes and Teeth album on wax for the first time.

The Eaters are Laughing Gear, Obselite, Quiet Man and Tuck Pendleton. check https://www.facebook.com/eatersmusic

Laughing Gear has loved hip hop since hearing Sugar Hill Gang and the Fat Boys. He’s written raps since age 15. He’s battled in Nuyorican Poets Café, NY and was featured in the award winning beatbox documentary; Breath Control. He has also directed and edited the bands videos to date.

Quiet Man joined Laughing Gear in their first band back in '90, although his influences include metal and electronica. He added instrumentals to his repertoire, initially mixing with a 4-track recorder, and now favours Cubase to engineer and masters all Eaters releases. As Watchmaker, he has released two electronic instrumental albums.

Tuck Pendleton joined and brought an eclectic taste to the table. He produces more sample driven music, like early 90’s hip hop – pulling from all styles of music and experimenting with speeds and bar timings. Along with Quiet Man, he produces Eaters’ vocal projects and has produced two instrumental albums.

Obsolite started rapping young and has supported various greats like Public Enemy. He is a regular poetry slammer and spoken word champion, giving the band even more stylistic scope. He joined Eaters in 2016 having previously fronted successful Scottish hip hop band, Penpushers.

This eclectic mix of individuals have released albums ranging wildly in style including funky beats and raps, instrumental electronica, Latin edged sample-based instrumentals and industrial beats with complex flows and sharp edges.

Starting out as The Pesky Varmints the band released their first 12” – Superhuman Colosseum – in ’99 through CID Records and supported Jurassic 5 and Coolio. But before they could finish their first album they imploded. Eaters formed from the ashes in 2000 and have been making music ever since.
