Lungs

Matt Van

Won't you fill my lungs? . : . : .

A unique sonic blend of both acoustic and electronic elements, featuring production appearances by Direct and Mr FijiWiji. This project was inspired by the desperation felt when trapped within the grasp of unrequited love.

Profile

Matt Van is a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer from the Quad Cities. Although he is actively pursuing music full-time, he has also graduated as a Doctor of Pharmacy from Drake University (Des Moines, IA).

In August 2015, Matt released his debut EP – Something Tangible. His debut single, "I Don't Wanna," was later featured in the Iowa Music Project's statewide songwriting showcase as one of two "Listeners' Choice" selections. In October of 2016, Matt followed up with his second project – Please, Respond.

Stylistically, Matt's music continues to evolve as he experiments with blending both synthetic and natural sounds. This has become apparent with his most recent singles – contrasting in tone, yet providing an artistic signature unique to Matt's work.

Matt has appeared on KCCI (Des Moines, IA) and KWQC TV-6 (Quad City Area) local news stations. He has also recorded a studio session with Daytrotter and Paste Magazine (daytrotter.com). Most recently, his music career has expanded into the realm of electronica music as he continues to collaborate with artists of the record label Monstercat, most notably Mr FijiWiji and Direct.
