Simon says:
"I really don’t remember a time in my life when I haven’t been obsessed with music – making it, listening to it and collecting it. My first memories of music were of Simon and Garfunkel, Neil Diamond and Boney M playing on the stereo at home. My primary school teacher set me on the road to creativity when he handed me my first guitar in Grade 1 and taught me how to play folk tunes. And ever since then, my obsession has only grown.
I fell in love with hip-hop when I first heard The Message and I was introduced to the delights of electronic music when I first heard New Order and the Eurythmics. I got my first cassette tape at the age of 10 (it was a Beatles compilation) and I have collected ever since. I devour all sorts of music and have gathered everything from Sepultura to John Coltrane to Depeche Mode to Gustav Mahler and everything in between.
But I have not always allowed my creativity the space it has needed to develop. After playing in bands and orchestras and ensembles through school and beyond, life got in the way, and somewhere there I simply stopped. I occasionally DJed and played around on the piano, but for the most part I settled into a routine of work and mortgage servicing.
All that changed though in 2015. After dealing with some pretty major health issues, I promised myself that I would return to the thing that I loved the most. So I started writing and recording and in early 2016 I published my first tunes on YouTube. Good fortune connected me with the mighty Man With Glasses, a band whose faith in me gave me the break I needed. Soon after, I met Rich James from Pink Dolphin Music and the rest, as they say, is history."
