2 years ago, Pop Thief was a one piece acoustic funk engine by the form of Richard Woodson. Today, Forrest Kos (drums) and Alex Greene (bass) have transformed Pop Thief into an electrifying three piece --- carving a sound of their own. Woodson's unique voice wraps soulful tones in a burst of attacks. Combined with Greene's impeccable style, Kos's hard hitting beats, and the trio's signature blend of a surf rock tone in a r&b flow, their funky amalgamation has initiated them into the rich kingdom of Pittsburgh and helped feet move wherever ears are listening.

The strummer is Richard Woodson, a Philadelphia implant son of a jazz drummer who has set out with his insatiable style and soulful cries writes songs that'll get him moving. Boston-born Bassist Alex Greene, who last took a home in the Vermont music scene, provides the flow for Woodson's energized rhythms. Forrest Kos stepped up to provide Pop Thief with the funky drummer Woodson needed after they formed a punk band as sophomores. Their upcoming release Before The Sun Goes Out also features the band's organ player Randall Curtis who mysteriously soon vanished into the cones of his Leslie after the recording of a powerful solo on a modified Hammond.

2017 will mark the first year of their new sound, and they plan on towing it to festivals both local & throughout the east while filling local venues with as many happy feet possible. Their debut EP will be the sounds making those feet move. Full of Woodson's bright melancholy and pulsing lust, the recording packages the sound of Pop Thief in a beautiful production. Woodson's lyrics are capable of transporting you to whatever memory he dives into himself; making them your own all in a series of swift chaotic strums and chilling vocals. Help support three artists goal of finally having their music pressed on wax.
