Distorted Portrait, set in Rome, is a fresh musical project initiated by Luca Gentile and Giovanni Inglese. They are supported by the infamous RIOT crew [Rome] - which focuses on the merger of the many facets of artistic expression: music, sculpture, photography and painting.

Distorted portrait musical research blends ambient and cosmic sounds with dub rhythms, techno-mechanic soundscapes and acid squelches with the intent of creating a very deep and sophisticated mix. The overall experience drives the listeners imagination from gloomy and dark atmospheres, towards heavy groove laden Detroit old school sounds.

Self Portrait is their first vinyl-only release and it's a manifest of aforementioned musical research. The EP consists of 4 tracks with very different characters - ranging from 80 to 122 bpm, at the same time keeping the overall theme of fusing lush ambient sounds with acid squelches and analog interjections.

"Black Rainbow", featuring the voices of Luca and Giovanni, is a very introspective and personal track.
It starts off with bleak and grey sound stage, somewhere along the way the kick and the acid bass surge in and the track gradually evolves into an overwhelming spiraling journey.

"Dirty & Smutty" is a classy house thumper, chock full of tasty ambient stabs, coupled with a classic 909 groove, and sprinkled with a heavy layer of analog fuzz. Nearing the middle of the track a track takes a twist and dives into acidic waters.

"Self Portrait" track starts off with an intermittent hiss of electricity produced by a Moog Voyager, and ends in the depths of the murkiest Pacific trenches. It is a continuous progression, an uninterrupted hypnotic flow.

Imre Kiss of Lobster Theremin fame, manhandles the Dirty & Smutty track and reworks it into a masterfully atmospheric hazy affair. This deep and sneaky rework is a hidden gem just waiting to catapult the listeners into an eargasmic nirvana...
