Zac Jr

Zac Jr is a one-person project, a mostly anonymous multi-instrumentalist working entirely solo. I started recording the album in early June, writing at first a couple of pieces and slowly developing them into a full album, recorded and mixed in nine weeks throughout one of the hottest heat-waves the country had seen. Having worked for years in various bands and other projects, I've started combining indie rock with retro AOR elements; the singing style of post-jazz blended with Huey Lewis synths, for instance, or the drums of American Football mixed with the vocoders of early Phil Collins. I've played drums and bass for 17 years and have always enjoyed working with stacked guitars and keyboards, layering many elements together to build up a wall of sound, while the double-tracked vocal stylings of Sam Prekop or Liz Phair provide a non-polished edge to the pieces. I'm working on getting a live set together for future performances.
