Ruff Graft was originally an in-house collaborative beat-tape made within a week by just some of the Millennium Jazz Music roster as they all took time out to pay homage to the late great Mr James Dewitt Yancey aka J Dilla.
We decided to revisit Ruff Graft and build upon the original track-list by including some of our newer label mates and then record the whole thing to cassette tape for ourselves and some dedicated collectors.
Since the release of the original CD and the RGR cassettes we had toyed with the fantasy of completing the cycle and releasing the album on 12" vinyl. Eventually we stopped talking about it and just gave it a go. So if you're actually reading this with the record sleeve in your hand while your record spins on your turntable then smile, we (of course that means you too) actually managed to do it.
Thank you for all the support!
