The record combines elements of dub, acid house, electronica, funk with classic electronic pop sounds. Thoughtful, reflective, melodic lyrics provide warmth and richness.
Flow Machines explains the genesis of the record, and why it is being pressed to vinyl:
"When I realised I had a set of songs that worked as an LP, I decided I should take full advantage of my independence from any record label or commercial pressure and experiment a little.
"I wanted to bring in more samples and different genres this time.
"I wanted the electronic sounds to combine with analogue elements like dub, funk and brass. And I wanted to get electric guitar sounds in there too this time to mix it up a bit.
"I thought the combination of digital and analogue would sound best on vinyl so that led to the decision to develop the record as two sets of 5 songs that work well in sequence.
"I sought out good people to help with the mixing and mastering and we ended up with a record that is a progression for Flow Machines and hopefully a rewarding listen too."
The tracks were mixed in Manchester, England, by Jim Spencer, who has previously mixed the likes of Electronic, The Charlatans, New Order, Black Grape and Factory Floor.
The record was mastered at Abbey Road Studios in London by Frank Arkwright whose previous work is equally illustrious, including The Smiths, Primal Scream, Underworld, Mogwai and Arcade Fire.
